Window Tinting

Window tints can transform the look of a vehicle….there are some
added benefits though.

We’ve seen ordinary looking cars transformed by a simple set of
window tints.

Contrary to popular belief window tinting is a dark art and requires supreme skill, material and environment to perfect.

Our skilled technicians have over 10 years experience tinting
windows making us the leaders is stunning window tints.

We only use the best materials from Suntek and 3M, feel free to
spot check our stock room. We don’t believe you can get a stunning finish with
any other brand.

Environment is also vital and so our window tinting bays are regularly cleaned and decontaminated.

We offer various shades from the lightest at 70% as dark as 5%
limo tint. Of course there are some regulations regarding tinting front windows
which we have detailed below. As a result we have to ask you to sign a
disclaimer for any front window tints to confirm you understand the
regulations. The full legislation can be read bat the bottom of the page with a
link to the relevant government website.

Some other benefits of window tinting:

  • Heat Reduction – Window tints can dramatically reduce the temperature in a vehicle by up to 70%. In summer vehicles with tinted windows are much cooler as soon as you get into the car and will cool down even quicker once the air conditioning / climate control has been switched on.
  • Security – Its much harder to see into a vehicle with tinted windows and in most cases a potential thief would have to press themselves against the glass to see your vehicles contents. You’d hope this would stand out and alert suspicion.
  • Reduced Glared – Reduced glare means less eye strain which is particularly useful on longer journeys. In the winter it helps against low glaring sun and in summer it helps against bright sunshine. Reflections as well as headlights glare will also be dramatically reduced.
  • Broken glass – Window tint film holds the glass together when a window is broken which can protect occupants in the event of an accident and also in the event of a potential vehicle break in the glass is much tougher to break and doesn’t shatter to the same effect as vehicle without window tints of with a factory tint where the colouring is in the actual glass
  • UV protection – tinted windows protect against the suns strong and harmful UV rays which adds additional protection to all occupants but particularly children on long journeys.
  • Snug – a vehicle with tinted windows also feels more cosy on cold winter nights and has proven to reduce head aches, fatigue and migraines on long journeys.

Tinted vehicle windows: the
law

The rules for tinted front
windscreens and front side windows depend on when the vehicle was first used.
There are no rules for tinting the rear windscreen or rear passenger windows.

Vehicles first used on 1 April
1985 or later

The front windscreen must let at least 75% of light through and
the front side windows must let at least 70% of light through.

Vehicles first used before 1 April 1985

The front windscreen and front side windows must both let at
least 70% of light through.

Penalties for having wrongly tinted windows

It’s illegal to fit or sell glass (or a vehicle already fitted
with glass) that breaks the rules on tinted windows.

The police or the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA)
vehicle examiners use light measuring equipment to measure window tint.

If your windscreen or front side windows are tinted too much you
could get:

  • a ‘prohibition notice’ stopping you using your vehicle on the road until you have the extra tint removed
  • a penalty notice or court summons
